Upstairs, Downstairs - Ch. 34

Francis waited alone in the basement, in the dark, his legs cramping up, wondering what was going on.  He'd never been more miserable in his life.  He vowed never to let his foolishness or his pride get him into a situation like this ever again.  Once this was over, he would get Eva and Erythor to talk things out-  Okay, no, that would never happen.  But he would talk to Eva, get her to stop treating him like meat - maybe even...  Maybe even get her to apologize, he thought, not wanting to face the idea of having to choose between friend and lover.  He'd fix things.  He'd make everything better.
...But that didn't change how rotten he felt right now.
